The indolent mind is not empty, but full of vermin.

 — Henry Ward Beecher

Inspired by the SCP Foundation's SCP-027 ("The Vermin God"), Vermin God is a insect horror multi-path visual novel where your choices matter.

In this game, you make choices based from the information and various story elements that you gather and the outcomes of your previous choices. Every choice truly matter as the narrative is carefully crafted to produce an immersive interactive horror experience in the visual novel medium that haven't been done before.

You play the story of Sye Mejia; an 18-year old girl infected by an unknown diseased dubbed as Anomaly 270 or the Vermin God Disease. Not much is still known regarding this mysterious disease beside from the fact that it enigmatically attracts animals that can be labelled as "vermin" into the victim's body and surrounding vicinity.

Rats, roaches, worms and various other insects of sort gather around the victim, producing what can only be seen as a living human infestation.

Sye's story begin as she woke up in a mysterious science facility hidden underground in some forest without any memory or recollection of why she got there. As she explore and navigate this facility, she experiences the strange symptoms of her disease, alongside the weird anomalies of the facility she woke up in.

While you slowly uncover the strange secrets of this unknown facility, you encounter various begins of anomalous nature. What could be waiting for you once you make your way out?

Vermin God is our first complete attempt to make and publish a commercial indie game. Our team started as creative writers, horror enthusiasts and passionate artists that eventually coincided in game development. On a personal level, we're a huge fan of the SCP Mythos, creepypasta and various other Internet horror so we plan to make more games about them in the very near future.

Please consider supporting us through Patreon so we can further make games and hopefully get enough financial support to become a fully-fledged game studio.

Just commenting to state I still have hope for this.

this game is marked as adult, is that for gore, nsfw, or language

No response ? I need to know too

played the game, I'd say it's for dark themes and gore

though the gore isnt like, extreme as far as I saw

Judging from this page alone, this game looks really promising. I love stuff related to the SCP Foundation and seeing a game based off of an SCP I don't see around a lot is very refreshing!

The game crashed twice on me while playing, it has quite a lot of grammar mistakes, the music doesn't really fit (poor girl just threw up a bunch of maggots, why is a calm piano piece playing in the background?), the art looks awkward in some places and there are some inconsistencies when it comes to controlling the game (why can I use the mouse to go to the next piece of dialogue at one point in the game but then I'm forced to use the spacebar at another?)

The atmosphere is great, but then it has some weird moments that completely ruin it. For example, when observing the place you're in, the game suddenly bombards you with random rat facts. They're interesting, but why is my character thinking about rats eating their own shit when she woke up at some dodgy hospital and has bugs swirling around in her body? It makes no sense. Another example would be that unfunny and out of place menstruation joke and the reference to a tentacle porn game

TLDR; the game has some good, solid ideas but the execution is somewhat disappointing

The influx of rat facts probably has something to do with her becoming the Vermin God. As it was stated in the game her body has had weird reactions to the anomaly, like how it didn't hurt when the centipede went into her ear, when the worm actually tasted good, or suddenly having knowledge of rats.

una historia sumamente interesante, la música queda bien y sin duda alguna el arte ayuda mucho para una buena inmersión, un poco malo mi ingles pero nada que no pueda leerse e interpretar

Excellent!

I like the game story! Can't wait for next chapter! Btw i can't manage to get tentacle locker ending :( What should i do?. Wish u enjoy my gameplay :)

chapter 1 review-

This is a very promising game, as I have mentioned already I love that you used one of the lesser talked about scps for the inspiration. I absolutely adore the art style. The story has a lot of promise and I can't wait to see where you choose to take the story. i loved the monster chase section. Overall I had a great time experiencing your story and, as previously stated, I can't wait to see where you take this story.

This however would not be a review if i didn't point out my perceived flaws. One of the flaws was the tactless and juvenile joke, ex the menstruation joke. The joke not only made me, and others, pause because not only did it not fit the tone but it was just a moment where i had to think "really". Another flaw was sometimes you didn't let the main character stew in her fear, ex the moment the character was starting to freak out over the blood you suddenly had the character jump to chiding herself for not acting excited.

How do you access the tentacle locker? I can't figure out how to unlock it

😊👍

I really enjoyed the prologue of Vermin God. There are some aspects of the character that I don't agree with, particularly certain things they say that make it feel as though they don't care about what is happening to them as much as I do. It happens enough times that it detracts from the overall immersion but I'll chalk it up to the fact that maybe they're just a little crazy.

In any case, this was still a great little taste of hopefully more to come.

Thanks for making games!

Very interesting and atmospheric game.

i love that you chose one of the lesser talked about scps for inspiration. I can not wait to play the rest of the story when it comes out.
