Interdimensional Vending Machine

Inspired by the SCP Foundation's SCP-261, in Interdimensional Vending Machine, you play as a strange, homeless girl surviving in a world that seems to have forgotten how to be normal. One night, she stumbles upon a vending machine. Not just any machine—but one that shouldn’t exist. It hums. It glitches. It responds to Japanese yen and dispenses items that defy language, biology, and maybe logic itself.

Gameplay
Interdimensional Vending Machine offers a simple yet unsettling loop of begging, feeding, and discovering:
🔹 Beg for Coins on the Street
Sit cross-legged under a midnight sky. Watch people walk by. They might look at you. They might drop a coin. They might say something strange, something cruel, or something that doesn’t feel quite human. Every coin matters.
🔹 Spend Coins at the Vending Machine
Enter the other scene: a cramped, humming liminal space where the machine waits. Insert yen, and the machine dispenses a random item from an unknown place, time, or reality. Some restore hunger. Some ease thirst. Others... don’t.
🔹 Eat or Drink to Survive
Choose carefully. Every item can help, harm, or change you. One may grant energy, another may reduce your ability to speak. One may cure thirst, another may make you forget what thirst even is. Effects are often surreal, mysterious, and sometimes irreversible.

Intedimensional Vending Machine is a highly experimental game based on another SCP. It's still a work in progress but we have a good idea on how we can expand it.
Please consider supporting us through Patreon so we can further make games and hopefully get enough financial support to become a fully-fledged game studio.

Why do all of the humans have pink skin is it supposed to symbolize something?
that they're anomalies too
For real?
im pretty sure?
how the heck do you get like blood?
You have to get a lot of the red drink from paying 100 yen(?) (but not the one with the 9)
thanks
Spanish translation, looks good game
I have played this game a while back and I ran into the issue of not being able to get any path beside the default or starvation paths, I've tried to save up money to buy enough items specific to a path, but I couldn't guarantee I would get the right good, so I was stuck between eating food to prevent starvation path and not eating top prevent the default path while not achieving any other path at all
My advice for improvement would be to have specific food items or food types appear in certain price ranges more often with their chance of dropping highly increased and once you unlock a food item you could look in the gallery and it would tell you that price range, I am uncertain if that already is a feature because there was nothing to indicate that
Specifically the apple seed one is easy to do, because you're guaranteed to get apple seeds if you pay 5 or 10, and pretty likely at 50.
Interesting premise, but the gameplay loop is a bit boring. I was also pretty confused in general. I get eating different foods affects you differently, but I couldn't progress super far. Any time I'd get decent progress on a path, I'd drink or eat something because my hunger/drink was low and it'd revert my progress.
Ultimately I just stopped playing because I got bored. Tons of potential, but it really needs something to break up the loop, and maybe make it a bit more obvious what sorts of food affect what.
Same 😮💨
Thanks for the android version
Came after updating version 0.1.02 to 0.3.30. I feel like the new inventory system is a step-down than the previous version, and it cause stutters whenever I hold the button for the next item. I'm not sure if it's because of the implementation or because I installed the game in HDD and not SSD.
Also, a suggestion: Adding tooltip for the food description in the inventory and the gallery.
Does anyone have a complete list of all the items in the game and what effects they have? I remember there was an old spreadsheet but it's incredibly out of date
uhm i don't know what happened but i lost my progress on the forms of the protagonist is this a but or di i do something wron? if it is a bug i hopo i can get fixed, since my main objective in this game is to complete the gallery... so it's a problem if it is resetted. (note that everytime i try to get a new form i start a new game so maybe that's the cause? ugh i don't know)
Hello i have been playing the game for not a long time but i noticed that the game REALLY need a feature:
The Bank:
A new building, you can't beg here, but you can exchange coins
I think it would be really usefull because the "1 yen coin" is the most common in the game but when you have 50+ of them they can become a hindrace to put in the machine (if you want to get rid of them); but also for 500 yen coins since even though they are the most valuable, sometimes you may need do spend less than 500 for something.
Also the "exchange" can be both by pressing a button or instant (for exhample if you select "1 yen --> 5 yen" and you have 52 1 yen coins you would get 10 5 yen coins and 2 1 yen coins remain) .
I think it would also be usefull to make paying easier for exhample if you need 100 yen you can just convert 10 coins of 10 yen insted of inserting them all.
If you agree with me or want to correct something feel free to reply.
Can someone help me? i am trying to get the "unhealthy route" but as i try i end up in the "default route" form what can i do to prevent this?
(if it's needed i eat: KFC, hot-dogs, tacos, curry, sushy, sodas, pepsi and coke)(or at least these are the food i would eat to trigger that route is there something wrong about them? if not do you have any suggestion to obtain them easily? because i've seen that you get KFC with 50% if you imput 1000 yen, and for the others i input either 100 or 200 yen but maybe there are better percentages at other prices?)
I got it via eating fast food items, moldy foods and soda but that was on a previous version so Im not sure if it still applies with the update.
i know for a fact that eating sodas frequenly leads to the "liquid route" so maybe you don't have to drink sodas and cola? ugh i don't know.
One thing certainly I would wish to add is the ability for the game to showcase "certain events based on your forms"
I feel like the game would benefit with certain forms having unique events and encounters that would spice up the gameplay than just passerby comments.
Such as the in the "Buff Route" there could be a chance for more positive outcome where people would start to treat you as a goddess and even leave offering based on far you are into said forms and eventually making the end a cakewalk.
And on the other hand where you are in a "Monster Route" your encounters would be less frequent, but the money begged would be larger purely out of fear for their lives as well Police encounters more frequent.
Either way, love to see the game finished, will be downloading it on my phone for travels :)
with "the end" you mean reaching one of the endings?
Because i have just downloaded the game and i am a little confused on how to achive one, at first i thought that you needed to reach the "final form" of a route to get an ending but i was proven wrong so what do i need to do?
In my opinion there could be one of three ways:
- continue to eat a certain ammount of the correct food after getting to the "final form" of a route
- getting to a certain ammount of money.
- getting to a certain day
What of those is the requirement to obtain an ending? Also am i right about the fact that there is an ending for each route?
Plese answer me and sorry for the long comment if what i said is wrong can you please tell me what is the condition to achive endings without majour spoilers?
There are only two real ‘endings’ in the game right now and neither of them have anything to do with your food transformations. Everything else is more like alternate forms you can push her into. Maybe they’ll add proper endings later, but for now, just know the dev is still actively working on updates.
ok thanks i was just wondering
How much of a certian kind of food do you need to eat so the first transformation phase begins, most prevabaly for the leeches or Centipedes.
thanks in advance.
Quite a lot, actually. I try to stock up on 8-10 items to begin a transformation line and that usually hooks the first form in.
Will the web / HTML version eventually be updated, or can we only play the latest version by downloading the game from now on?
The html version won't be updated much anymore primarily due to itch.io's file size limits
Have you given credit to Anomalous coffee machine creator HoruBrain?
why should they give credit? as far as i know its just inspired by Anomalous Coffee Machine
...thats why they should, or atleast put "Inspired by HoruBrain's Anomalous Coffee Machine"
Why should they give crited to SCP that didn't even inspire the game? The game been openly started it is based on scp-261. They even link to the artital on this very website.
they dont have to lol
sounds pretty stupid, but i dont know what the alien food is. (im trying to get the alien route)
At first, it seemed like just a homeless life simulator, but then it took a wild turn into a horror game. And it's really good, by the way.
Wish someone would make a post to list what type of food to feed her because i got confused on how to get the unhealthy route (managed to get healthy route), i watched a playthrough where all you could have was to give her so much sodas to get her fatter but now with the update, it only triggers the bride route.
I only figured that you only get to feed her moldy foods, i just don't know what junk food to feed her, along with anomaly or how you spell that to change more of her appearance.
It's an interesting game though but can get you bored sometimes because it takes a while for the machine to give you what you want because it's pretty random lol.
It's only random until you find the price of the item you want to buy. Look at the numbers on the vending machine. My advice is saving up a lot of coins, then exclusively buy an item you need (e.g. fetus bottle for fetus route, or centipedes on skewers for centipede route).
Alright, thx. 👍🏻
Neat game!
A bit long to do anything though. Cool concept excited to see more.pls increase the liquid drop chance, i keep no liquid food even after putting alot of coins
The new fetus food form is literally just a manananggal.
The concept is good. I think the characters narration is gimmicky, and often unecessary, sometimes it would be more impactful if she didnt say anything, and some of the lines might work if rewritten a bit. I think gameplay could be improved. I played for about two hours and only changed once. I also think the amount of foods that is bugs is a little.... overdone. Lots of people in various places eat them . The comments the strangers make and how those change was interesting, i think with work, this could be a game that really says something, but i think some of the dialouge, especially the sillier "does this taste like penguins" type stuff really takes away from it. And some way to improve the gameplay like maybe typing in a number as an option instead of just dragging coins as an option. the dragging coins was fun at first but it got tiresome.
Actually, I found the penguin line to be pretty clever if taken in a darkly humorous/sarcastic way. Like asking what makes this water so special that they had to import it from antarctica?
Out of curiosity what do you all think is going through our protagonist’s head when she’s transforming? Do you have any headcanons or imagined motivations as to why she would continue down a certain path.
Here’s some of mine.
unhealthy could probably be her just giving in and blowing caution to the wind about what happens to her. She’s just going to eat what tastes good regardless of what happens. After going through so many of the transformations she probably has had enough and just wants to eat something that isn’t gross not caring what happens to her physically. though as she gets in the habit of mindless consumption her standards lower which leads her to consuming moldy sandwiches and oranges just cause they’re there.
Leach and centipede seem to change her mentality after she becomes one herself. It seems to just become the new normal for her.
same for anomalous, though more so because what’s considered normal wouldn’t seem appetizing to her. I’d like to think she comes to see the alien objects to just make sense to her like they were always common place with her while regular food would be the thing she reacts to with uncertainty.
liquid could probably be just an undying thirst. The rest of her dries up so she must keep consuming, never feeling quenched despite feeling so bloated and sloshy
similarly the fetus path seems to be some kind of cannibalistic hunger, like some kind of rabies.
I feel like dialogue from her when she changes to give us some insight about her experience would be helpful, maybe a check option for reading her description for the food she received rather than seeing it more than once after the first time and not selecting a food item will tell us about how she’s feeling in her current state.
I’m trying to get the centipede body and I’m having trouble getting enough centipedes so how what amount do I put in to get centipedes
does anyone know which coin amounts guarantee a specific item or type? Especially anomalous
there is onky an specific amount for apple seeds, for the rest its just random
Ooh, SCP 261! Another player pointed me to this game!
The Credits button hitbox is too big, or the cursor hitbox is centered on the center of the cursor, should probably make it so the cursor's target is the point?
Lol dropped 1K and got Seeds and then dropped 60 and got 1 seed. The response order sounds like I should've gotten the other way around? Heck, I should've gotten more for 60 instead of 1 seed?
Does Hunger and Thirst matter? Nevermind, decided to risk the police in the Empty Street? If it's too low for too long, she actually does get dirtier? Woo! I waited it out and took the Police ending because I needed more drink but had bad 100 rolls.
Getting Fried Chicken on a New Game gives the Repeat message even if it's the first time that run?
Dead Bull 2: head somewhere > heard somewhere
Centipede 1? Got from 5K: with and uncercurrent > with an undercurrent
Coca Kolam: it taste bland > it tastes bland
Springles: Fells > Feels
200 bug, says I've eaten it, but I haven't yet.
Eyeballs in a bottle: some kid > some kind
9 seeds: apples > apple / apple's
Been playing a lot today and last night, go two things to report:
the tutorial is buggy, after starting a new game for the second time the tutorial 'unfinished itself' and I couldn't use the vending machine. instead there was an arrow pointing at an empty point in my inventory. After an additional restart I made sure I went to the main street and didn't get that bug, but I do now have the tutorial kebob stuck in my inventory, I'm unable to eat it or give it away.
A second issue that I'm unsure is a bug is that bug type meals actually took me out of the bug route and put me on the fat route. I don't remember the specific meals I fed her.
I've eaten everything given to my character, and I'm still in the neutral state.
to get an ending you have to eat only one type of food, eg. only eat seeds
A third, slightly grumpier look from an enthusiastic fan :)
fix it so that it stops resetting
Quality of Life suggestion: make it possible to convert coins into higher tier coins (maybe via an NPC). Manually inserting 150 one yen coins is far from fun.
Otherwise a great game.
A second look at some quick gameplay and critique ;)
awesome video!
I've been trying to play this for a couple days (Windows download), and, unless I'm doing something wrong, it appears to be impossible to progress any further than the first transformation of each line?
I can achieve the first progression of the ones I've tried fine enough (Healthy, Overweight, Parasite, etc.), but after consuming between 1-3 of those same item types needed for their evolution, the protag instead reverts to normal again.
With what is already admittedly a lot of time each run being spent toward gaining the specific items necessary to evolve, and the gameplay loop not being much more than Sitting and Waiting for this to happen, it's a bit disheartening to find that the core content of the game is inaccessible without really understanding why.
Hopefully as development continues this game can iron out its shortcomings a bit further, but as of now for me personally the experience is closer to that of an endless kitchen timer.
you should add a drag effect to the coin i swear it will just add a little dopamine hit whenever you put a coin in
who’s starving man and why does the game keep resetting every time he dies?
That dude taking your food and you get nothing empty street left arrow
they removed him (well not really. just removed the consequence of his death)
I love the game's vibe, this is creepy and dystopian.

EDIT: ... Lost a run because of the Starving Man on the Empty Street > Left Arrow part of the map??? I gotta take care of him too I guess?
Some thoughts:
1. Coins become unmanageable at some point.
As cluttered and scattered as a coin purse can be (which works for the vibe of the game!), whether as a base feature or something to "Earn/Unlock" in a play-through via some side quest or food trade, some Feature that sorts the Coins via Value into their own piles would work fantastic here. Maybe something like Coin Stacks that tower up to 5-10 as you get that amount of that value coin, and a total amount tracker over/under that stack of X once you go beyond the visual max for the tower. (For the 5 and 50 coins, the stack's visuals could be tied with a shoestring like a dystopian necklace.)
Since the whole manual coin insertion's the star of the show, I wouldn't dare ask to be allowed to manually type a value, merely streamlining the coin piles to help with value selection.
2. On the note of Currency management... Currency Exchange? It'd be nice to be able to ditch all of the 1's and 5's for a single 100.
3. The Inventory can be improved. For the current system, I love that food now stacks for multiples. I have two issues.
-I can't tap/click an item I see, it has to be DIRECT CENTRE of the inventory to THEN highlight, and THEN interact with. Making the centre item always highlighted would help there.
-Getting to the other items is gonna take some time, since you gotta tap the arrow and wait for the inventory to slide. If the player was allowed to either constantly tap that Arrow Up/Down to speed through their inventory, or even making the items that aren't the centre tappable to highlight and auto-move to centre, that would be a major improvement.
4. Inventory sorting might be rough with the current system. Being able to put stuff we don't want at the bottom or even completely new items for the run getting put at the top with an Unread/Untouched notification tag might work for now? Ideally, some kind of grid with multiple pages would be nice. The game's gonna have alot of items, and in a game with alot of items, item management's a big thing, and a 1 x 5 strip is going to be rough to deal with... Again, for now? Works great since the item pool isn't that big, you at least HAVE an inventory system, that's impressive.
I dunno how a game about begging in the streets and mutating from inter-dimensional food has me this engaged enough to draw up an image of my idea, but... this game has alot of effort and passion and I'm very excited to see more!
I figured out it gives you a code after receiving the item so put in the number amount show on the display when it gives it. usually it would be a normal number amount.
Btw for anyone reading this (me late) heres a tip for all transformation paths
Perfect line (celestial, cosmic tree)
Only eat apple seeds. First try to eat a good food like lemon clam to give you more hunger to start, then insert ONLY ¥50 yen for 50 apple seeds, this worked for me. 5 stages
Unhealthy line (gluttonous sugar addict blob)
Only drink sodas, but you can also eat better foods like chocolate food. For sodas, only insert ¥150 which will always guarantee a cola, pepsi or ghostbusters soda. 5 stages
Anomalous line (Rainbow alien)
Only eat foods such as fluffy alien box, lemon clams, rainbow apples, that fetus in a bottle, bottles eyes, sewage and i cant name more. Inserting ¥100 will have a 11% chance to give you an anomalous item. Inserting ¥500 yen has a %50 chance to give you an Anomalous item.
Parasite line (Queen of insects)
Eat foods such as bottled worms, cicadas, pile o slugs, roaches (ROASTED ROACHES ON A STICK DO NOT COUNT), and more. Insert ¥100 for the best chances but im not sure.
Liquid line (Hollow bride)
Unobtainable, no liquids will do anything, sodas will lead you to the unhealthy route, sewage water will lead you to the Anomalous route, antarctic water and figi i dont know
Trading with The Couple (left of Busy Street), The Boy (left of The Mall) and The Old Lady (right of Main Street) might help
I only managed to make first alien transformation after eating fetus for 2 hours
here’s a list of items I found if anyone needs it
code, item name, effects
Adding some to his mressange without effects (bc i am lazy).
If annyone want can write more.
Ammount, item name
1 - 1 seed
2 - 2 seed
3 - 3 seed
5 - 5 seed
10 -10 seed
7 - 7 seed
136 - burger (at least looks like it)
126 - idk what but gives something
500 - random or gives 500 seeds
Random (that not giving item) - gives mostly seeds
as 136 I just got a random glowing bottle with an anime girl hahahah anime girl water?
and as 183, I got a bag of fruits that look like apples but they're a different color, they're yellow, purple, and white. I got both items paying 500 yen
